We are a flourishing and vibrant History Society and in 2021 we celebrated 25 years from our first lecture in 1996.
We have grown considerably in recent years and our diverse and interesting programme for the current season can be seen on this website.
We have ten lectures a year, from October to July and usually at least one trip each Season to somewhere of outstanding and unusual historical interest.
In previous years we have visited Wells and Glastonbury, the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey. In 2019, we enjoyed a guided tour of Prior Park followed by a visit to Bath.
As well as our Programme of Speakers for 2021/22, plans are well underway for 2022/23.
We have been fortunate to secure The Rev’d Canon Dr Judith Maltby from Corpus Christi College, University of Oxford. Her talk is entitled ‘The Bible and Book of Common Prayer from Cranmer to 1660'.
In addition, Dr Giles Mercer will be speaking on St Thomas More.
